Something Strange
It’s a sight that you do not see so often, something old-fashioned, possibly strange and unknown to some. People who do not use the newest technology to see things, to learn, to pass their leisure time. Above, a young woman who has spent the day singing on the streets with her family, in Osnabrück, uses a mirror during her break, rather than checking out a selfie of herself. Below, people using old technology to learn, to relax; reading real books made out of paper in Bremen. Not something that we see every day.
In fact, some find it so strange when I take a break and read a book at a street café, on the train, or in a hotel lobby, that they comment on it and – not quite so welcome – insist on starting a conversation, in the middle of my chapter, over books they have known and enjoyed, when they were young, and the benefits of the electronic device they use today, if they still read at all.
