Can You See Me?

The part I enjoy most about being a Street Photographer is capturing images of people who do not know they are being photographed. Leaving aside the possible legal ramifications of such an action, it is, for me, one of the best forms of photography. The viewer gets to see a person in their natural habitat, not posing, not pretending to be something they are not, not turning their best side to the camera. They get to see people as they often do not even see themselves, just relaxed, their minds turned to something else, unconcerned by the strange figure moving through shadows across the street, pressing the shutter on their camera and then moving on.

Often there is no need for the photographer to blend in, people are so concerned with their own lives and thoughts, they do not see much of what is in front of them, or turn their minds elsewhere for that crucial moment. And then there are those who have no concerns in the world, and make for the most wonderful subjects.
