Bremen: High In The Sky

Not all of the exciting things happen at ground level. Now and then there is a little spectacle up in he skies: a special sunset; a formation of clouds; a beautiful building reaching up into the sky; Superman flying past or, in this case, a set of trapeze artists walking the high wires between the tallest buildings around the Domplatz and Marktplatz in the centre of Bremen.

It was clear just from the movement of the wires that there was more wind up above us than down amid the tables and chairs, and I am sure quite a few held their breath as they watched the swaying motion above them, and gasped when one or the other lost their footing and slipped, fell, bounced back on their safety lines. I wonder how many were disappointed the lines held….

And, of course, everyone was there with their mobile in the hand, capturing the events for their friends and family, or just to say they had been there and seen this or that.

For me, as I was considering starting this online collection with occasional – often unrelated – commentaries, a good chance to have a header image.
